EFP Group and Rotenberg & Co. to Merge
Combined entity, EFP Rotenberg, will become Rochester’s second-largest locally owned accounting firm

Rochester, NY, January 29, 2009 –Two of Rochester’s major accounting firms, Eldredge, Fox & Porretti, LLP (which does business as EFP Group) and Rotenberg & Co. LLP, have signed a letter of intent to merge. When the merger is finalized, after the accounting industry’s busiest season, the combined firm will become the area’s second-largest locally owned accounting and business consulting firm, with 67 certified public accountants (CPAs) and 150 employees. In the meantime, the firms have begun joint strategic planning and are operating on a cooperative basis.

EFP Group Names Three New Partners

EFP Group has admitted three new partners to the firm. Jennifer L. Arbore, Michael R. Doody, and Vincent J. Tomei, III—all CPAs—have been promoted from manager positions within the firm.

EFP Group Names Chairman and Managing Partner

Founding Partner Robert N. Porretti, CPA, has been named Partnership Chairman at EFP Group and Timothy J. McNamara, CPA, has been named Managing Partner. As Chairman, Porretti guides the firm’s strategic planning. As Managing Partner, McNamara oversees day-to-day operations.

EFP Group Names New Partner
EFP Group has admitted Thomas A. Walter, CPA, as a Partner in the firm. Walter, who is based in the Canandaigua office of Eldredge, Fox & Porretti, LLP, is the firm’s expert in New York State sales taxes. He is an authority on individual and corporate taxes and provides representation before taxing authorities, business consultation to closely held businesses, and strategic business planning.

EFP Group Staff New certifications
Congratulations to Kevin L. Beach on obtaining his CIA designation (Certified Internal Auditor) as well as his CFE designation (Certified Fraud Examiner). Beach, also a Certified Public Accountant, is a Supervisor with StoneBridge Business Partners, an affiliate of EFP Group in Rochester, New York. He handles and oversees franchisee and distributor audits.

EFP Group Announces New Staff Members
Kathleen A. Farrell has joined EFP Group as a Manager in the Non-Attest department in our Canandaigua office. Prior to joining EFP Group, Kathleen had her own CPA firm in Palmyra, New York.
Meghan E. Schuth has joined EFP Group as a Staff Accountant in the Attest Department in our Rochester office. Schuth has a B.S. in Accounting from St. Francis University. Schuth is a native of Brockport, New York.
Eloise A. Wiest has joined EFP Group as an Senior Accountant in our Canandaigua office. Weist comes to us with 14 years experience. Weist resides in Seneca Falls, New York.

Beginning April 1, 2006, there will be a year-round exemption from New York State sales and use taxes for clothing, footwear, and items used to make or repair exempt clothing, costing less than $110 per item or pair. The exemption will apply to the state’s 4% sales and use taxes. The exemption does not apply to locally imposed sales and use taxes unless the county or city imposing those taxes elected the exemption.
